Brennen Fitzsimmons (Neptune/Neptune) scored the only goal of the contest at the 75:17 mark of the second half to propel Richard Stockton (3-1) to a 1-0 victory over Arcadia (2-2-1) in the first round of the Stockton Seashore Classic. Fitzsimmons headed in a corner kick off the foot of Sean Nelson (Toms River/TR South) for his first goal of the season as the Ospreys won their home opener. Stockton goalkeeper Anthony Pompei (Hamilton/Hamilton West) made two saves in recording his first shutout of the year.
The Ospreys controlled the ball throughout the match and outshot Arcadia 23-3 overall. Stockton also attempted the only six corner kicks of the game, finally breaking the scoreless tie on their final one as Fitzsimmons got his head on the cross by Nelson and directed the ball into the net for the 1-0 victory.
