Women's Rowing

The Stockton women’s rowing team competed in two events during the fall 2009 season and five more during the spring 2010 slate. As always, the season built toward a big finish with the schedule leading up to the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships and Dad Vail Regatta as the final two races of the season. The Ospreys also stayed close to home, rowing in the Murphy Cup in Philadelphia and heading to Camden twice, for the Knecht Cup and Rutgers-Camden Dual.

With a nucleus of returnees led by three-year letter winners Ceili Bachman and Melanie Whalen plus second-year coxswain Ariel Hernandez, Stockton had some success in the varsity eight. The Ospreys defeated Rutgers-Camden by 46 seconds in a dual race and also advanced to the finals at the Murphy Cup and Knecht Cup. Second-year rowers Chelsey Barber, Alexandra Mankofsky and Stephanie Roth also were mainstays in the varsity eight.

Whalen and Bachman earned All-Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference varsity honors while Laura Grow was named All-MARC in the novice division. Bachman, Barber and Marie Livesy qualified for the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Academic Honor Roll with grade point averages of at least 3.50.

Stockton also offers men's rowing as a club sport since the NCAA does not sponsor intercollegiate men's rowing. The Stockton men's rowing team is coached by Tom Hewitt and has the same schedule as the Stockton women's rowing team.
