Women's Rowing

The 2011-12 campaign began for the Stockton women’s rowing team with two events in Philadelphia in October and continued with six more during the primary spring season.

Stockton competed mostly in the varsity four with a few races in the novice four and a couple in the varsity eight during the spring. The Ospreys were a young squad with Alexis Sullivan and Kim Miebach as the only returning letter winners who were joined by a host of newcomers.

Miebach and Liz Baldwin earned All-Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Varsity honors while Paige Riccio was chosen All-MARC Novice for the Ospreys. Sullivan, the team captain and varsity boat coxswain, qualified for MARC Academic All-Conference honors as a sophomore with a cumulative grade point average over 3.50. As a team, Stockton finished seventh at the MARC Championships.

The Stockton varsity four was the most consistent group for the Ospreys during the season. Sullivan served as the coxswain with Baldwin, Miebach, Stephanie McCann and Jasmine Beatty as the rowers. The varsity four defeated Rutgers-Camden in a dual race and also fared well at the Occoquan Sprints, placing second in their heat, and Knecht Cup, finishing third in their heat.

Riccio, Jenna Krichling, Colleen Hill and coxswain Stephanie Medvetz were mainstays in the novice four, with Amanda Gural joining the group for two races and Samantha Shivers in the scull for one race. The novice four won its dual race over Rutgers-Camden and also rowed at the Murphy Cup and Knecht Cup. The Ospreys competed in the varsity eight at the MARC Championships and Knecht Cup as well.

Stockton also offers men's rowing as a club sport since the NCAA does not sponsor intercollegiate men's rowing. The Stockton men's rowing team is coached by Tom Hewitt and has the same schedule as the Stockton women's rowing team.
