Stockton Wins Once at Baruch Invitational

Richard Stockton (18-10) finished fourth out of six teams by winning one of its four matches at the Baruch Invitational. Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) was named to the All-Tournament Team after leading the Ospreys in kills in each match and totaling 63 kills.

Stockton dropped both of its matches on the first day. Marymount rallied past the Ospreys 20-25, 25-27, 25-23, 25-21, 19-17. Velott led Stockton with a career-high 19 kills and 15 digs. Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) and Kelleigh Best (Medford/Shawnee) added 10 kills apiece. Stockton then fell to Elmira (NY) 25-21, 25-22, 12-25, 25-22. Velott registered 14 kills and eight digs while Warner slammed nine kills and Christine Astarita (Selden, NY/Newfield) scooped 18 digs.

On day two, Stockton began with a 25-19, 25-10, 22-25, 25-23 win over Baruch as Velott and Warner tallied 18 and 16 kills respectively. Laura Hausman (Bethlehem, PA/ Catasauqua) dished 21 assists in the victory. In their final match, the Ospreys fell to RIT in three close sets, 25-22, 25-23, 25-20. Velott notched 12 kills and Astarita recorded 14 digs.
