Stockton Wins CCNY Tournament

Richard Stockton (23-10) won the CCNY Tournament by finishing undefeated at the tourney with four consecutive victories. Christine Astarita (Selden, NY/Newfield) was named the tournament MVP and Anna Streicher (Marlton/Cherokee) was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

On Friday, Stockton swept CCNY 25-14, 23-23, 25-23 behind 18 digs by Astarita. Christine Velott (Moorestown/ Moorestown) and Streicher contributed 17 and eight kills respectively. The Ospreys then swept Clark (MA) 25-13, 25-17, 25-7 as Velott tallied 12 kills and Laura Hausman (Bethlehem, PA/Catasauqua) dished 12 assists.

On Saturday, Stockton topped Mt. Aloysius (PA) 25-17, 25-21, 25-16 on the strength of 10 kills by Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) and nine kills from Streicher. The Ospreys concluded with a 25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 25-20 triumph over Whittier (CA). Astarita scooped 23 digs while Velott and Warner added 16 and 13 kills respectively.
