Richard Stockton (27-11) swept Montclair State (14-16) 25-14, 25-19, 30-28 to win the NJAC championship for the second consecutive year and third time in four seasons. Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) led the Ospreys with a match-high 16 kills and Laura Hausman (Bethlehem, PA/ Catasauqua) notched a double-double with 21 assists and 10 digs. With the win, Stockton earned an automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

In the first set, Christine Astarita (Selden, NY/Newfield) capped a five-point run with one of her three aces to give Stockton a 16-8 lead. The Ospreys scored four of their final six points of the set on kills by Velott to win 25-14. Another ace by Astarita ended a four-point spree that broke the second set open and put Stockton ahead 18-13. Montclair State pulled within 19-17 before the Ospreys clinched the set with a 6-2 run driven by Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) with three kills and an ace.

Montclair State led 27-26 late in a tight third set, but Stockton scored four of the final five points to complete the sweep. Kills by Velott and Anna Streicher (Marlton/Cherokee) gave the Ospreys a 28-27 lead, but an attack error tied the score at 28. Following a Montclair service error, Kelleigh Best (Medford/Shawnee) spiked a kill on the fourth match point to give Stockton its sixth NJAC championship (1996, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2008, 2009).
