Stephen B. Davis

Stephen (pronounced Stefan) Davis received his BS and Master’s Degree in Health Administration from Penn State University where he played Varsity Football and was a Member of the 1986 National Championship team.  After completing his football career at Penn State, he served as a Graduate Assistant Coach from 1988-1990. Prior to his collegiate career at Penn State, he received several accolades as a student athlete at Deptford High School as an All American Football Player, All Group III Basketball Player, and All Gloucester County Track Weightman. In this regard, Stephen was inducted into the 2003 class for the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame for an outstanding scholastic and collegiate career in sports. It is also important to note that he graduated in top fifth of his Senior Class and held membership in the National Honors Society.

He currently serves as the Associate Dean of Students at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Pomona, NJ.  His tenure At Stockton began in January 1991 months after completing his graduate studies at Penn State University. His EOF Program received the 1992 exemplary program award from the New Jersey Board of Higher Education due to its consistency in exceeding student success criteria in the areas of retention and graduation rates.

Concerning Mr. Davis’ record of professional leadership, he served on the PleasanTech Academy Charter School Board of Trustees in Pleasantville NJ as a representative of Stockton College and Board Secretary from 1998-2007. He has also served as a member of the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Professional Association (NJEOFPA) for thirteen years on their executive board and as a Chairperson for several Conference Committees. Stephen currently serves as President of Stockton’s Council of Black Faculty and Staff (2005-present) where its members established the organizations first $100,000 endowment agreement to provide scholarships for underrepresented students. Furthermore, he received recognition as an Administrator of the Year (2004) and the Alpha Phi Alpha, Pi XI Chapter G. Larry James Community Achievement Award (April 2009)  

Along with Mr. Davis’ full-time employment in Higher Education Administration, he has taught courses as an adjunct professor in “Sports and Society” and freshman seminar concerning “Contemporary Issues in Sports”. Over the last decade, he was also chosen as a speaker and workshop facilitator for several academic, co-curricular, and community-based functions (Most notably as a Speaker for Incoming Freshman Student Athletes at Mansfield University), African American History Month at Atlantic Cape Community College, South Main Street Elementary School and Career Day at PleasanTech Academy Charter School).

Over the past three years he has delivered keynote addresses at the PleasanTech Academy Charter School Eighth Grade Graduation, Union Baptist Temple Career Day (Bridgeton, NJ) and the Whitesboro, NJ NAACP Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.

Stephen is a native of Deptford, NJ, (a 1983 Graduate of DTHS) and currently resides in Vineland, NJ with his wife Paula (who also works as a college administrator) and daughters Rahshana and Shavonne. His family holds membership at Cecil Deliverance Tabernacle where he served as President of the Men’s Auxiliary for seven years. He has also volunteered as a Coach for South Vineland Little League, the Vineland YMCA Youth Basketball League, The Woodbine Lady Storm of the South Shore Basketball League (2006-2007), and the South Jersey Express AAU basketball program (2007). Furthermore, he served as Head Coach for the Cumberland County Flash Football organization (2003-2005) and is currently Assistant Head Coach for the South Jersey Mastadons Spring Semi Pro football team. 

Stephen is one of five Davis children to earn a Bachelor’s Degree and one of three to earn a Master’s Degree through the influence of his loving parents Arthur A. Davis Sr. and the late Emma S. Davis. It is important to note that each of his siblings (Arthur II, Ronald, Renee, and Susan) are graduates of Deptford High School and have become professionals that have received noteworthy distinction for professional and community achievements. Stephen attributes his success to an exceptional upbringing in a household that stressed education and promoted high self worth and esteem.
