Reading Level: Genre:
Setting: Jerusalem Period: t/o Tiberius (Code: 7b1)
Rome Setting: n Christian/Jewish/Pagan: c
Mystery: n First Person:
Detective/Narrator:
Subject: In Jerusalem a Jewish boy, David, falls in love with a dancing girl. She runs away with him, dies and is resurrected by Jesus. David becomes a follower of Jesus and is stoned for heresy after the cruxifixion. There was no mention of Rome at all, and only a Roman soldier and governor. (RB)
Unique Qualities:
Rating: This book is racist (the Negro is described as having a "child-brain") and sexist (the girl is only interested in sex and dies a second time because of it). It puts Jewish-Christian relations back about 1,000 years. The only good thing is that the book is so badly written that no one will read it (the pages on my copy were still uncut!). RB
