An module with individual hands-on use of design software (GHLEPro) for all participants! AND relationship of GHP systems to LEED certified buildings.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will review Geoexchange Technology giving overviews of multiple case studies. Project design details include: Heat/Gain Loss Data; Test Bore & Thermal Conductivity Test; Borehole Layout; Software Applications; Ventilation Issues. Also included are computer design software updates and life cycle costs will be investigated in detail. The attendee will become familiar with GHP Technology as it relates to LEED Certified buildings. (Suggested Prerequisite: Some knowledge of Geothermal Technology is assumed). Quick overview will be given.

Diurnal Ice Storage and other Phase Change Materials

The first half of this session will be an overview of the current state-of-the-art in design and implementation of diurnal ice storage systems.  Design criteria and appropriate application, and several case studies will be presented. The second half of the session will be an overview of other phase change materials both in storing thermal energy in HVAC systems and also incorporation in building materials. Specific attention will be given to desiccant heat recovery systems and building materials.
