Fieldwork & Meetings

Stockton's distinctive emphasis on field placement provides teacher candidates with many opportunities to observe assist, tutor, and practice teach in elementary and secondary schools of varying philosophies in urban, rural and suburban settings. During field placements, Stockton teacher-candidates evaluate the activities of the schools within the context of the communities they seek to serve. Fieldwork assignments begin with forty (40) hours in Educational Psychology and continue with eighty (80) hours in both the Introductory and the Intermediate Semesters to prepare candidates for a Student Teaching position.

Teacher Candidates in a school setting learn as much as possible about the school, its students, the education profession, and their own potential to be teachers.  Field experiences provide students opportunities to put into practice information learned in their education courses.  School of Education students will actively participate with their mentor and other school personnel as they complete fieldwork assignments.
