Plant Tissue Culture Facilities

Students work with complete asepsis in the laminar flow hoods to prepare explants for culture and follow through sub-cultures to total plantlets, ready for greenhouse or outdoor maturity.

Methods of application covered include Photoplast Fusion, Chromatography, Stress Evaluation and Cryopreservation.

The Tissue Culture course emphasizes plants used for food, bio-mass, pharmaceurticals and floriculture. A special emphasis is placed on New Jersey Pinelands orchids and endangered plant species.
