Chemistry Program

Special Facilities

Chemistry Computer Laboratory

In close proximity to the F-Wing science laboratory complex, the "Mac Lab", equipped with Macintosh computers and chemistry specialized software, has been incorporated by the faculty to complement laboratory experiments.

Demonstration Chemistry Classrooms

Built during the B-Wing renovation completed in 1995, two demonstration chemistry classrooms, B-015 and B-016, provide the faculty with lecture rooms equipped with electronic equipment and, in B-015, a fume hood for experimental demonstrations.

Instrument's Rooms

Two support rooms, F-009 and F-009a, adjacent to the chemistry laboratories, are set-up with assorted instruments.

Room F-009 with a large glass window allows total visibility of the Organic and General Chemistry Laboratory.  Students use the instruments in these rooms in the analysis and identification of compounds synthesized in the laboratories under the supervision of teaching personnel.  Two Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometers, two Gas Chromatographs (GC), a High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph (HPCL) and a Fourier Transform-Infrared spectrophotometer are available in this room.

Across the hallway in room F-009a, a 200 MHz NMR spectrometer is used by Organic Chemistry students.

The Research Laboratory across the hall from F-009 and F-009a accomodate the 60 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer and a Gas Chromatograph - Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS).
