When you apply to participate in an internship or clinical, Richard Stockton College may be required to ensure that you have satisfactorily passed a criminal history background check. Many health-, education- and criminal justice- related fields require these checks and they are a common requirement for employment and professional licenses.
Several of the College's programs have selected Adamsafeguard as their official source for providing this information. They have the expertise and resources to conduct these checks for students and will automatically issue a report to the College. Payment for the criminal background check is entirely the student's responsibility . Adamsafeguard will provide the student with unlimited reports and offers counseling should the report indicate an issue that requires further investigation. Before signing up, students should strongly consider whether they want the check to be done and whether they feel comfortable with their personal information being released to designated persons at the College. By applying through this Web site or Adamsafeguard directly, students are giving consent to the designated persons at Stockton to have access to their results. Adamsafeguard and Richard Stockton College will ensure that the information is handled confidentially.
A NJ Statewide Criminal History Search and a Social Security Trace constitutes the base package. A Social Security Trace will dictate what venues are searched. If any address in an additional state is found, Adamsafeguard is required to search the county found in that state. If a state is listed on a student’s Social Security Trace and he/she has never resided there, Adamsafeguard is still required to search that state. In addition to the $60.00 base charge, a student may be charged:

Please note that the turnaround time for these searches will be four to five business days. Unfortunately Adamsafeguard cannot handle inquiries on the status of these reports, nor expedite them in any way.

If a discrepancy is located in your criminal history search, Adamsafeguard will provide you with the necessary information regarding the correct procedure on how to correct, admit, deny or dispute the claim(s).
If a discrepancy is found in your Social Security Trace, Adamsafeguard will provide you with the necessary information on how to identify and correct possible fraudulent activity.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Will I be charged if I have lived outside of NJ? If so, how much?
Yes. The charge is $15 for each state outside of NJ (excluding NY). The charge for a NY Search is $68.
Will my prior arrest, criminal history, conviction, etc., show up?
We do not know what arrests, convictions, etc., will show up until the searches have been run.
How long does the search take?
The search takes about three weeks to complete. Unfortunately we cannot expedite this process, nor can we contact the State Police for updates on results.
What crimes/convictions/arrests will keep me out of the program?
This is dependent upon the requirements of the program in which you are seeking an internship/clinic.
When/How will the school receive my report?
Adam Safeguard will review the results and indicate whether you have successfully passed or there are issues to be resolved. The information is then sent electronically to designated Stockton personnel.
What do I do if an arrest/conviction shows up on my report and it is not mine?
Adam Safeguard will provide you with information on how to dispute, deny, admit or correct any discrepancies in your criminal history. These are one page forms that can be found on this Web site: www.adamsafeguard.com
What do I do if an address that isn’t mine shows up on my Social Security Trace?
You may download a form from the Web site indicated above that will direct you on how to correct any discrepancies found in your Social Security Trace.
What if I had a PO Box in another state but never lived there?
A criminal search in that state still needs to be run.
