Child Welfare Education Institute

Welcome to the Child Welfare Education Institute!

Under the leadership of Dawn Konrady (Director) and Diane Falk (Principal Investigator), the Child Welfare Education Institute (CWEI) at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey supports the ongoing transformation of the public child welfare system through social work education and professional training. The three programs that constitute CWEI are the Baccalaureate Child Welfare Education Program (BCWEP), the Masters Child Welfare Education Program (MCWEP), and the New Jersey Child Welfare Training Partnership, Southern Region (NJCWTP-SR). More information about each program is available below.

BCWEP

The Baccalaureate Child Welfare Education Program (BCWEP) is a partnership of the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, a consortium of seven accredited baccalaureate social work programs in New Jersey (led by Richard Stockton College), and the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. As part an overall effort to transform the state child welfare system with a more professionally educated staff that produces better outcomes for New Jersey children and their families, this program helps students with generalist social work education and additional coursework in child welfare to enter professional positions in New Jersey public child welfare agencies.

The Masters Child Welfare Education Program (MCWEP) is a partnership of the New Jersey Department of Children and Families and a consortium of three New Jersey MSW programs—Monmouth University, Rutgers University, and Stockton College. With Stockton College as the consortium’s Lead Institution, the program offers current Division of Child Protection and Permanency supervisors the opportunity to strengthen their skills in clinical social work practice and supervision, obtain an advanced credential in social work (MSW), and ultimately to enhance the capacity of the Division to deliver the highest quality services to the vulnerable children and families that it serves.
