Comedy Tonight<mare>!!
February 13 - 17 • Wednesday - Saturday • 7:30 PM / Sunday • 3 PM
This eclectic evening of student-directed short plays features David Ives’ “Foreplay, or the Art of the Fugue,” “Sure Thing” and “Variations on The Death of Trotsky,” and Christopher Durang’s “An Actor’s Nightmare.” Ives renders the familiar strange: miniature golf is mixed with a mating game, a first encounter is replayed to perfection, and the Russian revolutionary relives his last day – over and over and over! Durang’s “An Actor’s Nightmare” presents an accountant who finds himself trapped in a hallucinatory performance, not knowing his lines or even which part he’s playing!
“The world according to David Ives is a very odd place, and his plays constitute a virtual stress test of the English language-and of the audiences’s capacity for disorientation and delight.”
