The Office of E-Learning expands into multimedia production to help enhance online learning.
This Office of E-Learning video breifly explains the new services being offered to staff and faculty.

The Office of E-Learning can now assist with filming faculty and staff for interviews, course introductions, or other needs where live video clips can serve to enhance an online learning experience.

Filming takes place in K-202d, which can be quickly converted from a working conference room to a small film studio. A wireless lapel microphone ensures great quality audio and the use of a green screen allows for limitless backdrops and creative editing.  Filming is done in HD quality using a digital SLR camera.

Standard video clips can be mixed with screen captured video to create a unique viewing experience. Whether it’s just introducing yourself to an online class, explaining your syllabus or online course structure, or creating a training video for fellow faculty or staff, the Office of E-Learning can help assist you.

Fred Everson from Computer Services is being recorded for the production of an online training session.

For Faculty, course content enhanced with visual and auditory elements is a key standard of the Blackboard Exemplary course rubric, a program for identifying and disseminating best practices for designing engaging online courses.

The editing and rendering of these video clips are currently being produced using Camtasia Studio, an accessible and easy to learn screen capture and video editing program. Camtasia Studio training is also being offered during the Spring Technology boot camp taking place in mid May. This software is also being made available to any faculty or staff office that demonstrates a need for using the software.

Stockton’s Committee on Information Technology Surveys Students.

Lindsay Schuele was randomly selected out of 1,317 students as the winner of a new iPad mini.
Earlier this semester, the Stockton Faculty Senate asked the Committee on Information Technology and Media Services to conduct a thorough examination of the nature, extent, and trends of E-learning at the college.  Parts of the survey were adapted from a similar national survey conducted by Educause, a nonprofit association committed to advancing higher education.

The first phase of the information gathering included a survey sent to all Stockton students inviting them to answer a 10 minute questionnaire with the opportunity to win the latest Apple iPad mini.

A total of 1,317 students responded to the survey between March 25th and April 5th. Using a random number generator, sophomore Lindsay Schuele was selected as the lucky winner.

The Committee on Information Technology has also surveyed faculty and will release the results of the entire survey examination later this summer.

We are trying a new approach to for the May 2014 Technology Boot Camp. Rather than trying to offer a full semester training schedule in just three days, we are offering seminars that we believe will be of greatest value to the faculty.

Additionally, we are expanding our instructional delivery methods. Rather than limiting our offerings to face to face seminars, we are including flipped offerings, synchronous online meetings, video instruction, and many open forums for Q&A.

Please register for a session using this link.
