Lacrosse (3/21/12)

Nick Bologno

Richard Stockton (3-4) nearly rallied from a seven-goal deficit before falling just short in a 12-10 defeat at Albright (7-1).

Freshman Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner/North Hunterdon) led the Ospreys with five goals and two assists. Brian Santoleri (Berwyn, PA/Archbishop Carroll) tallied two goals and an assist.

Freshman Eugene Isola (Monroe Twp./Christian Brothers Academy) continued his faceoff wizardry by winning 18 of 24 draws. Stockton goalkeeper Noah Morris (Brick/Brick Twp.) recorded 12 saves in the match.

The Ospreys faced a 9-2 deficit five minutes into the third quarter before starting their comeback attempt. Bologno sparked a three-goal outburst that included tallies by Wade Veselka (Chesterfield/Northern Burlington) and Adam Harran (Neptune/Neptune) to make the score 9-5.

Stockton still trailed 11-6 with 12 minutes to play in the game. Dave Soule (Kinnelon/ Kinnelon) started the rally with a goal at the 11:11 mark that was assisted by Bologno. The Ospreys then scored three goals in a span of 1:14, two by Santoleri and one by Bologno, to pull within 11-10 with 8:35 on the clock.

Stockton’s efforts to erase the large deficit were thwarted form there as the Ospreys went scoreless for the rest of the match. Albright sealed the 12-10 outcome by scoring an insurance goal with 2:58 to play.
