Building Evacuation
Whenever an alarm sounds or a strobe light signal is activated, it should be assumed that a real threat of danger exists. Each member of the campus community should become familiar with emergency exits.
In cases of an emergency evacuation:
- DO NOT use elevators; handicapped or special needs individuals on upper floors during evacuation should go to the nearest outdoor connectway and wait for assistance from emergency responders
- Evacuate to a site not less than 300 feet from the buildings
- Take personal belongings, turn off lights and close doors (DO NOT LOCK)--as time allows
No student, staff or faculty member may re-enter a building until notified by designated emergency response personnel.
Students who live in campus housing should refer to the procedures in the Guide to Residential Lifefor complete, detailed emergency evacuation procedures.
