Outdoor Season Begins with Stockton Invitational

Richard Stockton opened the 2010 outdoor track & field season by hosting the Stockton Invitational at which there was no team scoring. Stockton competitors and relay teams won a total of seven events, led by Demetrius Rooks (Galloway/ Absegami) with victories in the 400m (49.10 seconds) and 400m hurdles (54.65 seconds). The Ospreys swept the high jump with victories by Amanda Williams (Williamstown/ Williamstown) (1.62m) and Chris Huch (Tuckerton/ Pinelands) (1.97m).

Ben Hammond (Williamstown/Williamstown) won the triple jump (13.79m) and Stockton won two women’s relays. The quartet of Shelley Gibney (Shamong/Seneca), Lauren Daplyn (Vineland/Vineland), Katelyn Reiter (Union/Union) and Rachel Milliron (South Plainfield/South Plainfield) won the sprint medley (1:57.00).

Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland),Katherine Rudy (Bound Brook/Bound Brook), Rachel Carlson (Mullica Twp./ Oakcrest) and Jill Leaness (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) won the distance medley (13:30.42). Evangelist also finished second and set a new school record in the 3000m (11:08.26) while Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) placed second in the shot put (11.04m) and hammer throw (44.16m) plus third in the discus (35.33m).
