Stockton Wins Seven Events in Osprey Open

Richard Stockton hosted the Osprey Open meet and won seven events on the day. Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) led the Ospreys by winning the 800m run (2:23.69) and finishing second in the 1500m run (5:02.42). Evangelist also was a member of Stockton’s winning 4x400 relay team (4:12.48) along with Shelley Gibney (Shamong/Seneca), Dana Christensen (Bridgewater/ Bridgewater-Raritan) and Rachel Joseph (Livingston/ Livingston).

Joseph also won the pole vault (3.35m) while Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) won the high jump (1.60m), and Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) won the hammer throw (43.65m) for the Stockton women’s team. For the Osprey men’s squad, Abad Akhtar (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) won the 5000m run (16:00.44) and Elijah Jones (Millville/Millville) won the 800m run (1:59.55).

Stockton fared well in the women’s throwing events, with Cehara Wellington (Cherry Hill/CH East) placing second in the shot put (11.56m), Kelly Rozing (Hazlet/Raritan) second in the discus (37.87) and Stephanie Aromando (Newton/Kittatinny) second in the hammer throw (43.12m). For the Stockton men’s team, Tony DeFeo (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) finished second in the pole vault (3.95m) and third in the hammer throw (39.84), and Matt Rutherford (Toms River/TR East) placed second in the 1500m run (4:25.95).
