Alcohol Education and Treatment

Stockton University's Alcohol and Drug Education Program provides confidential counseling, assessment and referral services for students. Services are available for students who are concerned about their substance use/abuse or are addicted to alochol and/or drugs. Information regarding procedures for treatment options, including referral to intensive outpatient treatment, inpatient treatment centers and community 12-step groups, is offered. 

Students can also receive counseling if they have a relationship with an alcoholic, addict or problem drinker. Students will receive information regarding available support systems.

Alcohol Poisoning

Symptoms Include:

·         Consumption of a large volume of alcohol in a short time

·         Unconscious; cannot be awakened

·         Cold, clammy, unusually pale or bluish skin

·         Slow or irregular breathing; less than eight times a minute or ten seconds or more between breaths

·         Vomits while passed out without waking during or after

 

Remedial actions, if alcohol poisoning is suspected:

·         DO SOMETHING; don’t worry about the person’s subsequent thoughts or attitude

·         DIAL 911 immediately

·         STAY with the person and monitor his/her breathing; start CPR, if breathing stops
